New Club Jackets!

The club has been researching new club jackets for our skaters! We'd like to offer a more professional, competitive skating jacket as an option.
The first two pictures are of our current jacket which cost around $42.00 (depending on shipping) and are a light weight, looser fitt
ing jacket.
The second two pictures are of the competition jacket that we will be offering as the second option. It is a very high quality polar fleece lined jacket. This jacket will cost around $89.00 depending on shipping.
If you would be interested in ordering a new jacket or replacing an old jacket please let me know by May 22nd!!

New Trading Pin Logo Contest!!

You are invited to participate in the MSFSC Trading Pin Design Contest!!

Submit your illustrated or computer designed logo by Sunday, May 19th to be entered to win!!

All entered logos will be emailed to the members of the MSFSC for voting. The winner will be announced Wednesday May 22nd, and will receive a gift card to Cold Stone Creamery to celebrate their victory!!

MSFSC Club Meeting!

Join us this Tuesday, the 14th at Dairy Queen in Wasilla for our fundraiser & meeting!!
The fundraiser & meeting begin at 6:30 and fundraising continues until 8:30pm.
Our meeting will be from 6:30-7:30. The club will receive 10% off all profit during that three hour time frame, so invite your friends to help support the club by going out to dinner!!
We will be brainstorming summer fundraising ideas!

We have made the decision to cancel or possibly postpone the Antiquities fundraiser to the fall. If you have made ticket sales please contact Jessica for more information regarding refunding money.
We are, however still keeping our fundraising dates at 3-Bears in Wasilla and Fred Meyers to sell cards. If you would like cards please see Jessica!

Ready...Set...Sell!! Coupons for the Antiquities Photo Fundraiser!!

The Antiquities Portrait Fundraiser is now underway!
This fundraiser has amazing potential to help our skaters raise a substantial amount of money for upcoming competitions and events!! 

What is it??
The skaters will sell a $10.00 coupon that will entitle the customer to one 10x13 Antique color portrait with no sitting fee.
*The skaters gets 100% of the profits of all coupons that she or her family sell*

When?
Ticket sales begins now!! 
The portraits will be taken May 18th at King of Kings Church (off of Lucille and Spruce)

Who?
Any active club member can sell coupons!!
This offer is limited to one per family. Children up to age 16 and under will be photographed. (There are exceptions to this for additional family members)

BONUS!
Not only will you keep 100% of the profits of the coupons you sell, if you sell 10+ coupons you'll receive a free photo package AND the club receives extra BONUS money for each level of sales that we reach!!

Summer Fundraising Meeting Tomorrow Night!

Just a reminder about tomorrow evenings' fundraiser meeting!!

If you are at all interested in raising funds for your skating or competitions over the summer, you don't want to miss this meeting! We'll be giving you ALL of the details and instructions for the new fundraiser options!

The dates for our Antiquities Photo fundraiser is set and packets will be handed out at the meeting to anyone who is interested. We will also have cards available to sell for our members.

Also, on the list is our Jacket Re-Order or Redesign!! If you have an opinion, would like to vote or would like to re-order a jacket please let us know before the meeting or plan on attending!

Skatefest Reminders!!

A few last minute Skatefest reminders....

With Skatefest less then 24 hours away we wanted to send out a few reminders to our competitors, spectators, club members and their families.

The MSFSC has several exciting fundraisers happening this weekend, and we will need lots of help to make everything run smoothly. 

ZUCA: We were able to get a ZUCA bag at a HUGE discount (thanks to Amanda) for our raffle!! 

SILENT AUCTION: We will be having a Silent Auction table at the competition again this year. This has been a fantastic fundraiser for our club members and is a great opportunity to build your individual funds! If you would like to participate please bring an item or basket to include in the auction. We will have forms on the table to fill out for your item(s). 

DRESS SALE: We have a great collection of dresses and costumes for our dress sale. If you have dress's/costumes to sell please bring all items labeled with a hanger. Label must have your name, number and price listed on each item. 

SALE TABLE: We will also have a table for items that are for sale. These are any fixed price items that members will be selling. Please label each item with your information and price. 

***PLEASE HELP! We will need as much help as we can get running our tables during the competition! If you can spare a few hours of your time during the weekend, between events, please come and help at the table. It is expected that all participating club members dedicate some time to ensure success for everyone involved!! We will have a sign up list at the table, please help where ever you can so that one family isn't stuck behind the table all weekend. 

***BRING FOOD!! Sheree is also still looking for food donations for the Judges room on Sunday. She is in need of items that can be heated in a toaster for breakfast; frozen waffles, english muffins, toast, etc. as well as condiments ~ butter, syrup, jam...

She is also looking for "warm" food for Sunday afternoon/evening.

Palmer Ice Rink has added freestyle sessions!

Tuesday and Thursdays

Mat-Su Dress Sale This Saturday!

The Mat-Su Figure Skating Club will be hosting a pre-competition season dress-sale; 

Saturday February 16th 

12:15-1:15pm 

at the Brett Ice Arena.

Dress's will be on display following the 11:15 freestyle session in the foyer of the Brett Ice Arena. 

If you have dresses, tights, skates or skating accessories that you would like to be included in the sale, you are invited to bring them! 

Please included an attached tag with each item;

*Name, address, phone and price*   

Must be on each item.

Current club members (with up-to-date membership) will receive 100% of their dress sales. Non-club members will be required to donate 20% of their proceeds to the club.

Items for sale must be dropped off by 12:00pm and picked up by 1:30pm.

The Skate-A-Thon Fundraiser will be happening at the same time. If you are interested in acquiring sponsors for the skate-a-thon and haven't received the form please email the club at matsufigureskatingclub@hotmail.com.

You will simply take your form around and ask for lap sponsors or flat donation sponsors. The amount can be as large or small as they'd like. Every dollar earned helps your personal account!!

MTA Events Center has once again come to the rescue with TONS of ice!!

**They are only guaranteeing ice for the next two weeks. The last week prior to Riverskate will be dependent on the Avalanche team and whether they stay in the play-offs or not. **

Fundraiser Card Table Opportunity!!

Amanda has reserved two days to sell FUNDRAISER CARDS at Fred Meyers in Wasilla!! In the past this has been a very successful location and we are excited to have this opportunity!

We have several time slots available. If you are interested in reserving one of these slots please email Amanda (stewardinteriors@hotmail.com) or the Club (matsufigureskatingclub@hotmail.com). We will need three to four families on each time slot.

January 2012 Meeting Minutes

MSFSC Minutes for January 9, 2012 at DQ Wasilla

The MSFSC held the monthly meeting at DQ in Wasilla. Members present were; Amanda Steward, Anne Marie Steward, Vannessa Steward, Jessica Borg, Casey Borg, Autumn Borg, Katarina Borg, Kaitlyn Randall, Lois Randall.

Fundraising was discussed and it was agreed we would sell Papa Murphy’s cards, and Subway cards. Members will purchase cards from the Treasurer (Jessica Borg) and they in turn would sell the cards and return profit to Jessica so that she can credit member’s club accounts for sales. Papa Murphy’s cards cost members $1 per card and members will sell cards for $5 per card. Subway cards will not be available until the end of January but members will purchase the cards from the Treasurer for $3 per card and members will sell the cards for $10 per card. This is a first come first serve basis. Please check with Jessica for availability or to reserve your cards. 982-5592

Donation letters will be updated to enable all members to benefit from letters if they wish to participate. The requirements were made that all who wish to participate in letter fundraisers would be required to present a minimum of 10 letters to managers or owners of companies by April 1st. Members are not required to participate. A list of company contacts would need to be sent to Jessica Borg so she can keep tract and update the email to participating members. Businesses for sponsorship that have been contacted so far are: Red Robin, Diversified Tire, SBS, Balanced Body Massage, Country Cuts, Conoco Philips, BP, Bouncing Bears, Mat Valley Federal Credit Union, Country Insurance, Northern Orthopedics, Enstar, 4 Seasons gear, Cash’s Carpet, MTA, Sheleah Day Spa, Carpet One, Pull Tab building

Raffle license was discussed. Requirements by the state are as follows:
a $20 fee
3 years as an active non profit company
25 Alaska residents as members

We do not qualify as we haven’t been an active non profit for 3 years. However, Amanda is looking into borrowing a license from the 4-H and Jessica is looking into borrowing from Lions Club of Palmer. A license is required for split the pot, raffle tickets etc.

Amanda has been in contact with Alaska Airlines for tickets to raffle, Jessica has contacted BP and Conoco Philips for possible donations or sponsorship for raffle.

It was decided that MSFSC will sponsor a party/fundraiser on Saturday night for Iditaskate. We would be looking into renting Bouncing Bears, or the Gym at Wasilla Middle School. Jessica and Amanda would check pricing at Bouncing Bears and Lois would check with the school. The club would sell pizza, drinks and concession. Jessica would look into a DJ for the gym, Door prizes. Jessica would also look into renting the bowling alley. The party would be from 6-9pm Saturday night. We will look into sending out information to skaters.

It was decided to have a basket silent auction at the Iditaskate in March. Each member will get 100% of profit to their accounts. If you decide to sell other items: dresses, etc members will also benefit 100% of profit. Non members will donate 20% of their profit to the MSFSC. Baskets will be a silent auction. Other items will need to be priced, as well as have a ticket attached to each item sold. The ticket will include name, address and phone number. If items do not have a ticket attached to them they will be considered a “Club” owned item and the club will receive full profit. There will be no exceptions.

Amanda will be looking into grants available for sports.

It was unanimously decided that if the club cost for any fundraiser does not exceed $100 each participating member will get full profit and the club will pay the costs. However, if the cost exceeds $100 the club would be reimbursed prior to dispersing the profits to participating members. For example: if the wrapping paper would have cost $120 we would reimburse the club cost and then disperse leftover profit to members. However, the cost did not exceed the $100 so members who participated got full profit.

The MSFSC meets every 2nd Monday of the month from 6-9pm at DQ Wasilla.
