Sports Authority Wrapping Paper Tables!!
We have just received confirmation that Sports Authority in Wasilla will allow us to have a wrapping paper table in their store on Monday Dec. 19th and Tuesday Dec. 20th!!
This is a great opportunity for YOU to make some money for your individual accounts. We are asking that interested members volunteer in 2hr time slots. There will need to be one adult present, representing each family. Kids can attend but we ask that they not be involved in the actual wrapping of the presents. Maybe they could assist with the bows or gift tags :)
The sports authority will provide us with one table and Jessica Borg (on behalf of the club) will supply the wrapping paper, tape, scissors, bows, ribbons and gift tags. **If your one of those "early bird" shoppers and already have all of your Christmas gifts wrapped and under the tree maybe you would be willing to donate some of these left over items to the club!**
Please wear your club coats if you have them, and a medal wouldn't be a bad idea either :) We will need two adults in each time slot.
If you would be interested in participating in this fundraising opportunity please email us your requested times ASAP!
These are the times available, the people who have already responded are filled in as tentative wrappers. If we have more people interested then time slots available we can either add more time or more evenly distribute the times we have.
MONDAY DEC 19th
11:00-1:00 - Ellis / Villanueva
1:00-3:00 - Villanueva / ?
3:00-5:00 - Villanueva / ?
5:00-7:00 - Steward / ?
7:00-9:00 - Steward / ?
TUESDAY DEC 20
11:00-1:00 - (This slot may be added if the Monday time slot was profitable)
1:00-3:00 - Bowers / Steward
3:00 - 5:00 - ? / ?
5:00 - 7:00 - Borg / ?
7:00 - 9:00 - Bowers / Borg
As I said, the names provided are not concrete times just willing volunteers. Please don't hesitate to ask for one of the times already taken. If you would like the opportunity to participate we will do our very best to get everyone in spots accordingly.
Please email the club at matsufigureskatingclub@hotmail.com
or Me (Natasha Bowers) at akabowers@hotmail.com
to reserve your spot or with any questions :)

**You receive 100% of the profit of your item to your individual skating account
IF you are not currently a member of the MSFSC you may still sell items at the MSFSC Silent Auction Table, but 20% of those proceeds will go towards the Mat-Su Figure Skating Club.

Holiday Ice Fantasia in the Frontiersman!
There was a great write up and several pictures of the Holiday Ice Fantasia Christmas Ice Show in the Frontersmans over the weekend. Here's a blurb and a link to the full article :)
Bowers was among 30-some local skaters who performed in the first Holiday Ice Fantasia show Saturday at the Curtis D. Menard Memorial Sports Center. A showcase for the center’s Learn To Skate program, the holiday show culminated more than two months of training and rehearsal, said Natasha Bowers, Jada’s mother and skating director for the rink.
“This is the first Christmas show ever done at the sports complex,” she said. “Our Learn To Skate program is kind of the foundation for the show, and we have skaters from all over the Valley joining in.”
Like a recital on ice, the show carried a Christmas theme with skaters ages 4 through adult displaying abilities from beginner to a performance by Keegan Messing, a 19-year-old from Girdwood who recently qualified for the U.S. National Championships........

Mat-Su Figure Skating Club - Meeting Minutes, February 11th, 2011
The meeting began at 7:15pm at Dairy Queen. The club also held a fundraiser during that time that began at 5:30 and ended at 8:30pm.
Thank you to Katie Villanueva for creating our bulletin board at the Brett Memorial Ice Arena.
The checking and savings accounts for the MSFSC have been created and a total deposit of $1550.00 was made into those accounts at Mat Valley Federal Credit Union.
Amanda Steward (not present) has presented Casey Borg with a rough draft of the Sponsor Letter that will be available to members to seek corporate sponsorship. Casey is reviewing the letter and a formal draft will be completed by the March meeting.
The MSFSC club jackets were distributed to those in attendance.
We discussed several upcoming fund-raising events and opportunities;
*Coffee Roasters Fundraiser ~ 12oz bags of ground or whole bean coffee can be purchased for $7.00 per bag and re-sold for $10-$12 a bag. We would be required to create a logo sticker to place on the bags but Coffee Roasters would carry the cost of the coffee until the bags were sold. Coffee is available in light/med/dark roasts. It was suggested that these bags could be sold at Three Bears along with a bake sale or donut sale. Jessica Borg is doing this fundraiser for a church group and would report to the club their success over the weekend.
*Krispy Kreme Donuts fundraiser. 50% profit made on donuts. Can be pre-sold or purchased to sell. Possibility to set up fri & sat before Easter at Three Bears & Carrs.
*Chocolate Fountain ~ This fundraiser will take place at the Skatefest competition. We will be required to purchase the chocolate but the actual cost of the fountain would be donated by Special Events Party Store. Natasha will pick up, clean and return the fountain and purchase the necessary chocolate, skewers and hot dog papers. Each member would be required to bring something to “skewer” for the fundraiser.
*Raffle Ticket Themed Gift Baskets ~ each member will bring one completed gift basket to the competition to raffle. Basket should have estimated value of $20. Baskets were provided by Lois Randall. Tickets will be sold for $1 each or $25.00 for a “pull”. Ticket boxes will be decorated by Jessica and Katarina. The winners will be announced at noon on Sunday.
*Flowers ~ will be sold at the competition for $3.00 each or 3 for $5.00. Amanda is talking with Carrs to see if flowers (carnations and roses) can be donated for the competition.
*Program Ads ~ approx. 100 ad forms have been mailed to the competitors of Skatefest in hopes of them putting in a “Good Luck” ad in the Skatefest program. We will make a $5.00 profit on each ad placed!! Natasha will be typing the ads and giving the finished pages to Sheree to insert into the programs.
**Members that are wanting to benefit from the fund-raising events at Skatefest will be required to: #1 bring a food item to skewer for the chocolate fountain
#2 bring a themed gift basket
#3 donate time before, during or after the competition (working
tables, set-up or brake-down)
The meeting adjourned at 9:00pm. Reported by: Natasha Bowers
