Mat-Su Figure Skating Club ~ Meeting Minutes ~ Feb. 11th
Mat-Su Figure Skating Club - Meeting Minutes, February 11th, 2011
The meeting began at 7:15pm at Dairy Queen. The club also held a fundraiser during that time that began at 5:30 and ended at 8:30pm.
Thank you to Katie Villanueva for creating our bulletin board at the Brett Memorial Ice Arena.
The checking and savings accounts for the MSFSC have been created and a total deposit of $1550.00 was made into those accounts at Mat Valley Federal Credit Union.
Amanda Steward (not present) has presented Casey Borg with a rough draft of the Sponsor Letter that will be available to members to seek corporate sponsorship. Casey is reviewing the letter and a formal draft will be completed by the March meeting.
The MSFSC club jackets were distributed to those in attendance.
We discussed several upcoming fund-raising events and opportunities;
*Coffee Roasters Fundraiser ~ 12oz bags of ground or whole bean coffee can be purchased for $7.00 per bag and re-sold for $10-$12 a bag. We would be required to create a logo sticker to place on the bags but Coffee Roasters would carry the cost of the coffee until the bags were sold. Coffee is available in light/med/dark roasts. It was suggested that these bags could be sold at Three Bears along with a bake sale or donut sale. Jessica Borg is doing this fundraiser for a church group and would report to the club their success over the weekend.
*Krispy Kreme Donuts fundraiser. 50% profit made on donuts. Can be pre-sold or purchased to sell. Possibility to set up fri & sat before Easter at Three Bears & Carrs.
*Chocolate Fountain ~ This fundraiser will take place at the Skatefest competition. We will be required to purchase the chocolate but the actual cost of the fountain would be donated by Special Events Party Store. Natasha will pick up, clean and return the fountain and purchase the necessary chocolate, skewers and hot dog papers. Each member would be required to bring something to “skewer” for the fundraiser.
*Raffle Ticket Themed Gift Baskets ~ each member will bring one completed gift basket to the competition to raffle. Basket should have estimated value of $20. Baskets were provided by Lois Randall. Tickets will be sold for $1 each or $25.00 for a “pull”. Ticket boxes will be decorated by Jessica and Katarina. The winners will be announced at noon on Sunday.
*Flowers ~ will be sold at the competition for $3.00 each or 3 for $5.00. Amanda is talking with Carrs to see if flowers (carnations and roses) can be donated for the competition.
*Program Ads ~ approx. 100 ad forms have been mailed to the competitors of Skatefest in hopes of them putting in a “Good Luck” ad in the Skatefest program. We will make a $5.00 profit on each ad placed!! Natasha will be typing the ads and giving the finished pages to Sheree to insert into the programs.
**Members that are wanting to benefit from the fund-raising events at Skatefest will be required to: #1 bring a food item to skewer for the chocolate fountain
#2 bring a themed gift basket
#3 donate time before, during or after the competition (working
tables, set-up or brake-down)
The meeting adjourned at 9:00pm. Reported by: Natasha Bowers
