Bear Paw Festival!!

It's time again for the yearly Bear Paw Skating Competition at the Harry J MacDonald Center in Eagle River. We will have 8 girls from the Brett Ice Arena competing this Saturday. The competition starts at 11:00am Saturday morning and will continue until 8:00pm Saturday evening. Even if your not competing in this years festival we would encourage you to come and support your team. It's always nice to have a few familiar faces in the audience.

New Valley Ice??

Just wanted to pass on some information LeAnna found on the newest rink in the valley. The Big Lake Lions club has started construction on their ice arena. The purpose of the new rink is to "provide ice time to practice-starved Valley hockey teams"...but at least it might free up some ice at the other facilities for figure skaters. As far as the remaining ice in the valley... The Wasilla Multi-Use Sports Complex is planning on having ice the first week in August and hopefully Palmer will have its ice in by the last week in July. There is currently quite a bit of available ice in Eagle River. If your planning on competing in the upcoming Bear Paw competition we would highly recommend that the skaters get at least a session or two on their ice prior to the competition. It's always good to be familure with the ice.

Congratulations Skaters!! All of your efforts made our 1st Mat-Su Figure Skating Club garage sale a huge success! We made a total of $768.13!!! A special THANK YOU goes to a few of our members who went far above and beyond to make this sale happen.

Christine Lorimer for her bright and colorful signs as well as her huge assortment of her fantastically delicious baked goods for our bake sale.

Ray Roelfs for making some very sturdy sign supports and for placing all of our garage sale signs on our rainy Friday morning.

Amanda Steward for placing ads on Craigslist advertising our sale and even getting a few donations before the sale.

Thank you to everyone who was involved in setting up, pricing, arranging and selling during our two day extravanganza!!

Meeting Tonight!!

Just a quick reminder about our MSFSC meeting tonight. The meeting will start at 6:00pm in the Brett Memorial Ice Arena. We will be meeting to discuss several upcoming events as well as set-up and organize our garage sale!

Please bring all garage sale donations to tonight's meeting as well as any bake sale items that you'd like to donate.

**Remember** The proceeds from the garage sale will fund your personal club account to help you with your skating expenses!!

We hope to see EVERYONE there :)

Meeting Highlights

Thank you to all who attended our meeting at Pandemonium. Here are the highlights:
*Our "Big Summer Event" Garage sale and car wash will be held June 25th at the Brett Ice Arena. We are needing any and all garage sale and bake sale donations as well as volunteers. (Remember ~ this is a great opportunity for you to raise money for YOUR skating)
*We are still seeking a secretary for our MSFSC board. If you are interested or would like to place a nomination please contact one of the board members.
*Save the date for the 4th of July Parade in Wasilla ~ find out more at the next meeting
*Our New Logo and apparel options are to be announced at our June 24th meeting
*A Summer Dance Workshop will be held during the first part of July ~ more info soon
*Upcoming Competitions, critiques and skating festivals
* A meeting schedule and location was established dedicating the last Thursday of the month at 6pm for our monthly MSFSC meetings at Pandemonium.
